Panerai British Classic Week 2019

Panerai British Classic Week is taking place from 13th to 20th July in Cowes, and this year sees the 18th edition of the annual Regatta of the British Classic Yacht Club, which has been held every year since the America’s Cup Jubilee in 2001.

The event not only attracts entries from Britain but also regularly from Europe, and for 2019 organisers are anticipating a wide entry with yachts from around the globe looking to race in the Solent. The racing is once again being organised by the Royal Yacht Squadron with a six race series, which includes a Nab Tower race on Monday, 15th July.

This year’s event will have two elements to the prizes. All yachts will race towards the primary IRC overall and class winner prizes, which will be awarded solely on race results. Building on last year’s emphasis on authenticity, race results will also go towards a second set of prizes to be won by yachts deemed as authentic by a panel of independent judges.

The 2019 event will also be the final classic regatta sponsored by Panerai following the announcement that the luxury watchmaker is ceasing its Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge. The brand will still be connected to sailing through other initiatives, such as the sponsorship of Luna Rossa, the Challenger of record of the 36th edition of the America’s Cup.
