New Harbour Commission website launched

The new Cowes Harbour Commission (CHC) website went live on Thursday, 24th April, the result of a successful collaboration between the harbour authority and two Isle of Wight companies, project managers Solent Communications, and internet business solutions provider Netguides Limited.

The launch of the enhanced cowesharbourcommission.co.uk site, which offers quick and easy access to essential harbour information as well as CHC’s marine operations, is part of the harbour authority’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality and availability of information to all stakeholders, local residents, visitors, and commercial harbour users.

Deputy Harbour Master Rod Hodgson, who led the project on behalf of CHC, said: ”Our Commissioners, the Harbour Master and I, are extremely pleased with our new look website, which we feel provides us with a modern, professional and user-friendly online platform, designed specifically to help us improve the sharing of information on all our statutory, commercial, and community activities.

“In particular, the new website will play a key role in the promulgation of the very latest news, safety and navigational information regarding the progress of the Cowes breakwater construction, and I encourage everyone to visit the site on a regular basis.”

The website is a comprehensive source of information for everything related to Cowes Harbour, and features expanded sections on the work of the harbour authority, useful additions such as an events calendar and alerts to the latest Local Notices to Mariners, a mooring and berthing locator with an interactive chart, plenty of helpful information for the leisure visitor, and the option to view the site in four languages; English, French, Dutch and German.
