Regatta news snaps
One of the new and exciting developments for this year’s regatta sees the introduction of a Double-handed class. Double-handed racing has recently become incredibly successful worldwide, both inshore and offshore and this new class reflects the demand for, and interest in, Double-handed sailing. Racing will be held as part of the Black Group and courses will be about 3½ hours long with an interesting range of wind angles, but somewhat fewer legs than for the standard IRC classes.

In the year marking 100 years since women were given the vote, Lendy Ladies Day returns to the regatta on Tuesday, 7th August with a celebration of female talent on the water to inspire more women to take up sailing. The day’s events will culminate in the presentation of the Ladies Day Trophy at an evening reception attended by famous faces from the world of sailing, as well as celebrity and VIP guests.

The 1851 Trust is onboard as the official event charity for Lendy Cowes Week this year. Encouraging youth participation in sailing plays a vital part in the continued success and popularity of the sport, including events like Lendy Cowes Week. The 1851 Trust is an innovative education charity committed to inspiring young people to become innovators of the future and stewards of the environment.
