Commissioner vacancy

In brief: Cowes Harbour Commission (CHC) is seeking to appoint a new Board member.

Would you like to play an important role in helping to determine the policy and business decisions for Cowes Harbour?

If so, then CHC is looking for exceptional people with enthusiasm and a genuine interest in public service who are able to provide strategic leadership to the decision making Board of Cowes Harbour Commissioners.

Candidates are sought who can demonstrate commitment and local knowledge. In particular, proven expertise in commercial law would be an advantage; however, this is not prescriptive and other skills and experience will also be considered, including port development and finance.

Board Members and the Harbour Commission work collaboratively with stakeholders, the Harbour Advisory Committee, and partners in Cowes Harbour.

In line with good governance, Commissioners are appointed on merit, on an open recruitment basis, to provide the CHC Board with the professional skills and experience required to meet the changing demands of the Commission as Harbour Authority for Cowes. The Commissioners’ positions are voluntary public appointments.

If you think that you have the ability to take on this rewarding role then you are strongly encouraged to apply. Further detail and an application pack is available on the CHC website:

In order to be considered for this position, please send your completed application pack to Capt. Stuart McIntosh, Harbour Master/Chief Executive, Harbour Office, Town Quay, Cowes, Isle of Wight PO31 7AS by email: chc@cowes.co.uk or telephone: 01983 293952 for more information.

Applications are welcome from a broad section of the local community. The closing date for applications is 1200 noon on Monday, 19th February 2018. The appointment will be effective from 1st May 2018 and will run for a period of three years.
