Chain Ferry to close for annual inspection

The Isle of Wight Council reports that the Cowes to East Cowes Chain Ferry will be out of service from 0830 on Tuesday, 29th March 2016, for its annual inspection. It is expected that the service will resume on Monday, 4th April. Vehicles will be diverted via Newport.

A foot passenger shuttle will be in operation. The 40 pence return fee will continue to apply for foot passengers using the shuttle service.

The annual inspection is essential to ensuring that the floating bridge meets its health and safety obligations.
